it might for a while but unless the GOOD PAYING jobs stick, could just go back to the way it is. It might stimulate the economy though, which would definitely be good.
No chance since crime is the best paying career in South Africa. Ask Selebi or any of the ANC fraudsters.
Turniton - Just to add to the deletion of my answer to the moral responsibility to report crime to would be Tourists. You can take it that the 17 year old schoolboy Malan who is actually Carl from the Industry working closely with the homo paedophile Boshoff deleted it.
Hell no, if anything it’ll increase. All those tourists carrying wads of cash will be too much of an opportunity to pass up for the graduates of Mandela’s school of making the country ungovernable.
No, because here are so many illegal immigrants in South Africa. There are no way that one can provide enough jobs for everyone. Here are approx. 26mil illegal dudes in South Africa. And they keep coming…
No, the crime rate will eplode in 2010 with all the extra cash that the tourists will bring along with them!
The plus factor is that the world will finally see how pathetic, ignorant and corrupt our government is.
There may be more jobs. But unemployment isn’t neccessarily SA’s main reason for it’s high violent crime. Many countries have much higher unemployment with much less violent crime.
It’s about effective policing and sentencing of criminals. Criminals have too many rights in SA.
My prediction would be: If we’re lucky, crime will moderately decrease towards 2010, but afterwards the good-for-nothing ANC government will just let the floodgates swing open and SA will be let to the mercy of criminals (with the ANC fat cats laughing all the way to the bank).
I sincerely hope I’m wrong. May God have mercy on us…
Maybe in the short-term because the government is increasing police presence in the major urban cores during events, notably Durban, Joburg, Cape Town.
Once the whole world-cup hoopla is over, I expect rates of crime to return to their normal (yet brutal) levels.

no.
now there are more opportunities for criminals to earn foreign currency.
i think that 2010 will either be a bloodbath or a resounding failure, either way.
this country is on the brink of disaster, and now they want to bring innocent foreigners in for the slaughter.
shame….
