Do you think the crime rate in South Africa will decrease because of the world cup?

I really want to go to the World Cup 2010 in South Africa but the only thing holding me back(besides finances) is the state of South Africa now. I know its a beautiful place with a variety of people but reports say racism and xenophobia are still prevalent today(2008).
Their crime rate is relatively high as well; rapes, robberies, and hijackings are usually the crime(being reported at least). They rank 2nd in murders and rapes, hijackings and cash in transit heists particularly have been shown to be on the increase, and the situation with rape has become so bad that the country has been referred to as the ‘rape capital of the world.
This freaks me out a bit. Only because during the World Cup a flood of people from all over the world will be in attendance and drunk most of the time.

If anyone has every been could you tell me how your time was and was the situation really as bad as I am making it seem?

The event has not started yet and it seems that this 2007 Rugby world cup is still asleep. However I beleive that the excitement will quickly build up after the event begins, as it always does for such events as world cups.
After the first win of England, the prices of the tickets will go up… It will become increasingly expensive to support your team and your country… Of course, England has had a few drawbacks lately but (even though I hate admitting it) it is nevertheless the world champion!!! The match against South Africa will probably be one of the best of this tournament…
